The CMA’s this year were incredible!! I was actually excited to watch and see the artists perform. I think country was in some sort of rut and just got out of it. This year “New” talent won awards; we didn’t have to hear the same old tired speeches. We got to see reaction and excitement!
During the awards show I was on my phone on FB going back and forth with Listeners … it was hard to keep up because everyone wanted to voice their opinion or ask a question…it was great and so much fun!!! For the ACM’s we will do a chat room on our website. I suggest every Morning show do this with their listeners….forget the days of the viewing parties at a restaurant or bar now it’s done over FB!!
Do you ever listen to your Listeners? Who cares what we think what do they think? Here’s what the listeners were focused on last night: Blake Shelton, Miranda, Brad…excited they all won and how genuine their reaction was…people told me they were crying when Brad and Miranda won….that says something. How many times Carrie changed her outfits, Loretta still sounds great; Carrie and Brad are great hosts and funny! The Band Perry love their cd and they sounded great. Jason Aldean/Kelly Clarkson is awesome and a big hit! Love Lady A=Hit, and they loved seeing Kid Rock. Some of the biggest Rascal Flatts fans said they were bored with their performance (however they love RF) but loved seeing Dierks Bentley perform on the show. Many were surprised that Carrie didn’t win anything and Brad Paisley is really funny and he loves his family. These were the thoughts from many listeners and I’m already getting requests for Jason Aldean/Kelly Clarkson and the song Brad performed last night. Now here are my observations:
-Hosts Brad and Carrie get better and better every year!! Carrie Underwood always looks great and changes a lot but what girl wouldn’t want to play dress up. They are up on pop culture and what’s going on around them and this show has really shown a fun side to Carrie Underwood, that viewers/listeners may not have seen before.
-ZBB incredible musicians loved Alan Jackson performing with them!!! Even their speech was simple yet important: Fans, Family and Country Radio!
-Keith Urban and Kenny Chesney they understand their audience and they bring it. No voodoo needed here they are pros that know how to entertain.
-Blake Shelton, long overdue for this award and how great it was to see someone really excited again!! He is a great live performer who knows how to work the crowd.
-Miranda Lambert she is on fire, I love how she rocks on stage and has fun!! She allows herself to have and show emotions.
-Taylor Swift has the gift for writing songs girls and women can relate too!
-Sugarland they are incredible, the fans love them, sounded great and as always Jennifer looked great!! Jennifer really knows how to perform! At the very beginning of their song I thought the whole ballerina thing was strange but then it got better. I just hope they don’t lose touch with reality and get too creative. Sometimes when “artists” become too creative they start making music they like and forget what their fans like.
-Reba here’s a lady that has had a successful career, learned how to reinvent herself and she’s still sounds amazing…I think the standing ovation showed the love for Reba!
-Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson…WOW they sound beautiful together!!! Already getting calls for this song.
-Brad Paisley’s song was Fantastic!!!! He never forgets the legends! And it’s about time he won Entertainer of the Year, great speech he never forget the fans!
-Dierks Bentley great!
-Lady A “Hello World” hello number 1!!! They are on fire and they are still humble about it!
-Loretta Lynn she still rocks!
Here’s the one’s to keep on the radar: The Band Perry…smart move to add them to the line-up, even if it was just a quick hit…Looking forward to see what 2011 holds for The Band Perry! Easton Corbin his entire album screams hits.
Why these artists were not even nominated: Jason Aldean????Really? How many numbers ones has he had? Billy Currington….again how many number ones? Justin Moore and Jamey Johnson (ok he was nominated for a vocal event but he needs to be nominated for more).
Country Music brought it last night and I was so proud to be associated with this industry.
The morning show at our local CMR was doing a karoke contest at a local bar. No CMA's.
ReplyDeleteThe show was great! I was rolling commentary thru the night via Facebook chat. I had one gent comment on how George Strait was a phony! How he stands there and pretends to strum the guitar.
ReplyDeleteOthers commented on Chesney, Urban, and Taylor Swift sounding off key (to be nice.)
Overall the impression was a changing of the guard. New faces take CMR to new places.
How big is it for our industry to get praise from the artist after God and the fans?
