Sunday Driving on Full Throttle County with @RyanFoxNOW

Ryan Fox loves being on the radio. Not a day goes by that he does not consider himself blessed to have grown up in and around the radio business. His family once owned stations in Western Oklahoma, and he has worked in radio since age 11.Ryan joined the KPLX 99.5 The Wolf in August 2005. "Being at 99-5 The Wolf is the fullfillment of a dream I have carried my entire life. It's one of the biggest and best country stations in the nation. Who wouldn't love it?", says Ryan.

In his spare time, he enjoys hanging out with his lovely wife Amber, watching movies, and college football. He also enjoys attending church, spending time with family and friends, and wrestling with his fun-loving beagle-terrier, Max. He's a big fan of everything 'pop culture', and it goes without saying Ryan LOVES Texas Country.

Where are you answering these questions from?
My couch. It's soft!

Since no one can see you what are you wearing?
Jeans, Shirt, Chuck Taylor's.

How did you get started in Broadcasting?
I grew up around radio stations my family once owned in rural Oklahoma. I started turning the switches at a very young age. It's in my blood.

What are your fondest childhood memories?
I'd have to say just being around the radio station. I remember always being fascinated by the idea of hearing something we put so much work into, everywhere we went. Whether that meant one town over, or a whole county away. I can't remember a time not wanting to be a part of that.

What are your favorite things to do?
Spending time with my best friend: my wife Amber. Walking our beagle-Terrier Max. Watching College Football. Family and friends are important.

What are 3 items you CAN NOT live without?
The Bible, My iPhone, My DVR.

What current event has your eyes and ears? And what are you doing about it?
In addition to the Oil spill in the Gulf, the flooding in Nashville is still something I follow. Even though the waters have long since receded, many artists, and regular folks in and out of the record industry are still trying to battle back. I just try to lend an ear and help any way I can.

How do you use Social Media in your industry for productivity?
I use it to get the word out about giveways we may be doing on air, giving our listeners exact appointment times they can tune in to win prizes. PPM is all about setting listener appointments. That's one way I try to incorporate Social Media.

Which famous musicians do you admire?

Keith Urban. He is such a talented singer and musician, but also extremely unassuming and humble. The guys is married to of the most gorgeous actresses in the world, but you wouldn't know it by talking to him. He really takes the time to get to know people. Jack Ingram is much the same. He has always been very gracious to me, and he's just as talented as Keith.

What is your favorite website?
I recently started a new blog site at www.ryanfoxnow.com focusing on Country Music and Pop Culture. A lot of our listeners are on facebook, twitter and using social media, so I developed my blog site as a way to supplement our on-air content with the listeners and, at the same time, expand my own personal brand.

If you had a Super Power what would it be?
A power that helped peoples dreams come true.

What is your favorite movie?
It's A Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart. I just love the message in that movie. 'No man is a failure who has friends' It teaches you to enjoy and cherish what you have. Because you really have a lot.

Favorite snack?
Oreos. Because they are good. But if I ate them all the time, I'd be 500 pounds. No bueno.

How do you balance your work with other obligations?
I try to leave work stuff at work, and constantly make a conscious effort to have family time. Work is important, but family is more important than work will ever be. Priorities.

Do you get nervous about anything?
I get nervous about a lot of things, but I never see that as a negative thing. A lot of times, nervousness drives me to tackle things I've never done before. It's a confidence builder.

Do you have a ritual before you go on the air?
Don't forget the headphones!

If you could meet anyone in the world dead or alive who would it be, and what would say to them?
That's a tough one. I've met more interesting people in this business then I ever thought I would. One time I got to do a phone interview with Bill Cosby. It was a pinch yourself moment. He's a classy man.

What is your hobby or do you collect anything?
I collect old radio's. The wooden ones. I think they're so cool. These radio's were around before there was such a thing as TV. They were the only game in town, and they don't make radio's like them anymore. A relic from a simpler time.

What chore to you hate?
Mowing the lawn. We have some blazing hot summers here in Texas, cutting grass in the summer is quite the chore.

Do you have an animal/s?
Max. He's a beagle, terrier. He's the best.

Apples or Oranges?
Bananas

Mac or PC?
Mac

Ginger or Mary Ann?
Gilligan
((OOPS left off the part that said who are you most like LOL) jn

Craziest thing you have ever done?
Decided to have a career in Radio. Ha! No. I really love it. I could't imagine doing anything else this exciting for a living!

Through the years he has worked at many stations and even a radio network. One of Ryan's proudest accomplishments was passing a highly competitive screening process and being accepted to the world's number one film school, the USC School of Cinema/Television in Los Angeles. There he learned about the entertainment industry from the inside out. Noteable Alumni that also have attended the University of Southern California Film School are George Lucas, Robert Zemeckis, Ron Howard and much more. Since graduating from USC, Ryan has entertained in Middays, as Morning Show host and has been Music Director at radio stations in both Oklahoma and the Great State of Texas!
In April 2009, Ryan added another impressive accolade to his extensive resume when he won the award for 'DJ Of The Year' at the 2009 Texas Music Awards! A prestigious award that is 100% fan voted!
