BOB KNIGHT'S WEDNESDAY MORNING MEETING

IT'S OUR TURN

For as long as I can remember, the country music industry has supported radio for just about every station event, fundraiser, or half-baked promotion.  Now, it's our turn to return the favor.  Nashville has been slammed with record flooding that will undoubtedly have horrible effects on the health and welfare of those who are involved in the music industry or its allied partners.  Basements will become moldy, clean drinking water will become a commodity, and many businesses will be interrupted.  Nashville needs a fundraiser; our stars need our help.  Radio can mobilize better than any other media. Here's the game plan:

1.  Nashville needs to get their stars on every morning show in the country asking for help (not for the wealthy stars, but for the "everyday folk" who live and work in Nashville.
2.  Country radio needs to have a drive (canned food, bottled water, diapers, clothing, furniture) to distribute to the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and other allied charities.
3.  Fill a truck and send it to Nashville.

Oh yeah, sell the damn fundraiser, giving a portion of the proceeds to the relief effort.  Title, location, presenting sponsors, anyone?  Sponsor the truck?

Best to strike while the iron is hot.  Good luck and please let me know how it goes:
