Finger Candy Friday- Where did all the BOOMERS go?

WHERE DID ALL THE BABY BOOMERS GO?

According to a new eMarketer report over 47% of online boomers maintain a profile on at least one social network! Finding new and old personal connections is the main attraction. This includes family, friends and co-workers.

Facebook is the clear choice for Boomers at 73%. Surprizingly MySpace still hangs on at 40% and a nominal 13% for LinkedIn.

Boomers are experimenting with other social media platforms including Twitter, blogs and review sites; but they're not adopting them with as much enthusiasm.  A surprising 49% of Boomers indicated that an online review or product recommendation purchase decision was influenced by some form of Social Media including a website blog, Facebook, Twitter or MySpace Page.

You can find Boomers very at ease online, however they are still passionate about their offline relationships. For most boomers, being in constant contact to maintain a personal connection will not be dictated by web 2.0.  According to the survey, “Marketers should not expect boomers to become "fans" or "friends" unless they are passionate about a product or service. However, Boomers who do sign on should be nurtured-they are vocal about their positive and negative experiences.
